Emergencies

Although we hope it never occurs, dental emergencies can come out of nowhere – making it necessary to get an appointment scheduled quickly. If this happens, we will work hard to get you into our office as soon as possible to get the help you need.

For tooth pain, rinsing your mouth with warm saltwater and applying a cold compress to the outside of your mouth can help relieve some pain until you get in to see Dr. Dixon. If you find yourself in a dental emergency – whether it’s a broken, chipped or lost tooth – calling our office right away is important to try to save the damaged tooth.

If your tooth is broken or lost, hold onto any pieces of the tooth you have, as your tooth may be able to be repaired. If you lose an entire tooth, keep the tooth moist in milk or a saline solution until you come in. If you can reinsert the tooth into the socket, this is also a good idea to hold it in place until you get the tooth examined.
